Personnel President Heidi McKinsey I am honored to be the current president of Pro-Life of York County. I have spent my career serving women and children. After achieving a degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University in 2003 I taught preschool for several years working with children aged 1-5 years. I then returned to school to pursue a career in nursing. Since graduating from Lancaster General College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2008, then Eastern Mennonite University in 2014 I have worked with post-partum mothers and their infants and in labor in delivery. I currently work in pediatric home care with special needs children. I am passionate about life along the entire spectrum from womb to tomb. I believe we are created by God and bear his image. Babies in the womb are lives with potential, not potential lives. God placed them inside of their mother for a reason. Working in Labor and Delivery has given me a whole new perspective on how big of a personality a preborn child can have! Even at the end of life I believe that no extraordinary means should be taken to hasten death. Euthanasia is not part of God's plan for us, dying with dignity is what we should aim for. We need to respect life across its entire spectrum because even the very old and very young have something to offer. I am excited to join York County Pro-Life in this role as president and I aim to promote education, advocacy, and motivation to fight for life to those that are open to listening and acting. I am eager to serve the pro-life cause and I look forward to all that is to come with this new, York County Chapter. Thank you for all you do to fight for life! Please let me know how I may be of service to you. Vice President Charlie Johnson The path to joining Pro-Life of York County has been long and winding for me. During college years I had become agnostic, but later, when my wife and I had our first child then two more, it became apparent that we needed a closer relationship with God. Many years later, we are blessed with seven young grandchildren – five girls and two boys, one of whom has Down Syndrome. We see God’s joyful work in each of these children. The callousness with which society rejects the most defenseless among us – unborn human life – breaks my heart. And I am astounded by the refusal by many to understand the scientific basis that human life begins at conception. So, I am pleased to be a member of Pro-Life of York County and look forward to taking part in educating the public and guiding women to the life-affirming resources they need as we spread the message of life! Secretary Wendy Vehar As a young girl, part of my life involved opening my heart to foster brothers and sisters. My experiences made me realize that life isn’t always fair and sometimes is full of struggles. However, the relationships and love I have shared with my foster siblings over the years have also been the foundation of my resolve that every child, born or unborn, deserves the chance to live and that every life has value that deserves fighting for. Although I have been pro-life all my life, I am relatively new to this fight, but I realized I could no longer sit back and be silent. I have found my voice! Pro-life advocates face enormous challenges in today's climate. It is critical that we are firm in our resolve to reach out and educate where there is a lack of understanding, encourage where there is a lack of faith, and lead where there is a void of direction. We need to fight against those who so easily take advantage of the rights of the unborn, spread lies, and ignore the actual message that every life is worth fighting for at every opportunity. Treasurer Bob Boehner In the late 1970’s I had to watch a movie for a required class in college. One scene in the movie was a beach covered with plastic baby dolls making a point about abortion. That was the seed. A few years later, I was on the mailing list for Keith Green’s Last Days Ministry. They were offering several advertisements that I was running in our local newspaper. One ad showed that it was illegal to break an Eagle egg, but not illegal to terminate the baby in the womb. A friend saw my ads and asked me to serve on a Board to open a crisis pregnancy center. I helped open two centers. I have served as Treasurer for the PA Pro-Life Federation for about three decades. In 2022, I decided that I should help re-start the York Chapter of the PPLF since I had moved into York County. My wife and I have two lovely daughters and one very entertaining four year old grandson.
