Ministries The Service of the Religious The religious sisters and brothers serve in a variety of works, including teaching, contemplation, nursing, catechetics, parochial and human development. The St. John Bosco Home for Boys, conducted by the Sisters of Mercy, provides a home, education and technical skill for about 150 poor boys. A home, operated by Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity, serves the elderly poor and indigent of the area, and the diocese supplies and staffs four clinics serving the sick. There are fifteen Catholic primary schools, two secondary schools, and Mandeville Catholic College. Mt. Calvary Retreat House, the only facility dedicated solely to retreat ministry, serves the entire island of Jamaica. The Community of Oasis of Peace, a contemplative community, provides the island with the ministry of prayer and hospitality.
