Each local church community has a Church Council and a Youth Group. Many also have other organizations, prayer groups and study groups. Eighteen diocesan councils and committees, composed of representatives from each civil parish, meet regularly. These groups have sponsored successful workshops on prayer, ecumenism, sacred scripture, vocations, youth, family life and catechetics. A diocesan Women's Organization, Men's Organization, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society are very active in most parishes. The Pastoral Council, in dialog with all parts of the diocese, prepared a five-year Pastoral Plan in 1994, which is currently being revised. A two-year Lay Leadership Program, recently completed, gave impetus to the successful implementation of a Total Stewardship Program, the Christian Celebration of Life. This three-year formation program provides each parish with a very realistic process of spiritual formation and growth.
